[[Session 1]] Journal by [[Rintario]] Journal entry 1, 11 Ches, 1498 Dale reckoning (DR): I still don’t understand. I can never understand. That damned fisherman acted like a child. That’s fine. Fools will be fools, blustering and shouting as they go. But by lords of knowledge, it’s such a mess working with these people. The group I ran with seems a bit ragtag. Will give them a chance since I will certainly need some help tracking down Nass and those ruins. Not like I can give up my curiosity about Phenrere anyway. The reptile fish was quite interesting. I am tempted to study it, but I fear it’s beyond my area of expertise. Our competition in these parts seem to be druidic in nature, which is really annoying. Their magic is messy to trace and hard to predict. If they stick to the shadows as well and use social manipulation like turning the towns against each other, I fear our progress will be disgustingly slow. Tali is definitely a good person to befriend. Brave enough to deal with a lake monster and be the contact point. Smart enough to deal with the stupid fisherman. Also seems to have the respect of the leadership of the town… Not that it means much. A senile old man is in charge? That stupid Ironspike should just take the place rather than try and do the job for him. Even he isn’t a good leader though. This town will likely get ground to dust within a few years. Perhaps we should start a school here. Educate these masses on how to manage a town. How are they still alive? Miracles or mercies from some cruel deity I guess. Furthermore, ghouls attacking inside a town with no sign of the town militia… But I don’t want to say too much. I failed again. At least nobody died because of me this time, but I would definitely need to rethink my value. I feel like a book. I know a bit but I have no ability to apply what I know. Just a stupid prop on the shelf. A small mercy that it was only two measly ghouls. We failed to track their origins, the body was dead before they arrived, the dagger is magical, but practically untraceable… Absolutely no useful information, aside from that he is some richpants from Targoth. It is strange that he came this way… Perhaps he was dumped here to add more inter-town tension? I need to sharpen up. Lack of knowledge gets people killed. The innkeeper had a very curious ring. Its symbolism is fascinating. I gave it to Phenrere since I was absorbed in the more important information of the dagger for our current task, but I definitely want to look into it. I get… that same feeling again. Like something is determining our route. Laying clues. Guess that’s the morning’s worries. PS: Having strange dreams again. Although something is interfering with the ones I used to have, this time I saw a city underground. Are we being manipulated? Who has this level of knowledge… Can I get access to that?
